An Open Heaven
In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened. Genesis 7:11 (KJV)
An open heaven speaks of God and His activities on Earth and in the heavens. In the account of Noah, we see that God opened up the windows of heaven, or the floodgates.
Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. Malachi 3:10 (KJV)
God says that when we tithe, He will open the windows of Heaven and pour out a blessing so great that we can’t contain, or hold, it. As we tithe, give, and obey God’s instruction in other ways, it creates for us an open Heaven. We can access what is in Heaven and bring it to Earth. Thus, God’s Kingdom comes on Earth as it is in Heaven. We can literally have Heaven on Earth. Through an open Heaven, or through Heaven’s portals, God releases to us what He has for us. He pours out blessings.
And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the Lord of hosts. Malachi 3:11 (KJV)
God promises to rebuke the devourer as well, so the devil can’t eat up our blessing. As a result, we will live with no lack. An open Heaven releases God’s Spirit, His works, His wonders, miracles, and provision. His presence comes and His power is evident, causing us to be filled and empowered and flowing in revelation. We see an example of this when Jesus came back from being 40 days and nights in the wilderness (Luke 4).
And he saith unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Hereafter ye shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man. John 1:51 (KJV)
An open heaven can bring us angelic assistance and is especially evident if we have spiritual eyes to see what is going on in the spiritual realm. Angels are given for protection, provision, and other assistance. An open Heaven provides an access point for them.
And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Matthew 3:16-17 (KJV)
Water can speak of the Holy Spirit and of the Word of God. The Heavens opened unto Jesus, and they are opened to us as well so we can see the Spirit operational in our lives. He rests upon us, and we can hear God’s voice, experiencing His love, approval, and acceptance that empowers us for life and ministry.
And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy: Acts 2:17-18 (KJV)
An open Heaven speaks of God pouring out His Spirit on all flesh. The Spirit empowers us to be witnesses for Jesus, then we prophesy and speak the Word of the Lord to others. God will pour out His Spirit on our sons and daughters, referring to the promise of household salvation. God’s intention is for us to live under an Open heaven and to be a supernatural people. He expects us to have visions and dreams and see what He is showing us.
Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstool: what house will ye build me? saith the Lord: or what is the place of my rest? Hath not my hand made all these things? Acts 7:49-50 (KJV)
God is enthroned in Heaven and extends His presence to Earth. An open Heaven gives us access to His presence and power and enables us to rule with Him now and forever. God and man, Heaven and earth- united again forever.
