God Breathed

Let’s look at some of the things God’s breath has done.

And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. Genesis 2:7 (KJV)

God’s breath made man a living soul.

And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost: John 20:22 (KJV)

Jesus breathed on His disciples and they were born-again. This is when the church was born. Just as Jesus breathed onto them, He breathes onto us and we become born-again, and then receive the Holy Spirit (Matthew 3:11, Acts 2:4). His wind blew in us and we were born again (John 3:8).

And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit. I Corinthians 15:45 (KJV)

God breathes life into us through Jesus, the last Adam.

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: II Timothy 3:16 (KJV)

Inspiration refers to breath. All scripture is God-breathed. And by His Word, He breathes life into us.

And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. Acts 2:2-4 (KJV)

Holy Spirit wind, the breath of God, blew on the Day of Pentecost. They were filled with the Spirit and spoke in other tongues.

And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. Genesis 1:2 (KJV)

The wind, or breath, of God speaks of the activity of God; working and moving by His Spirit. He moved upon the face of the waters and things went from dark to light and from death to life.

These Scriptures tell us that God breathes in us His breath, His life, and His Spirit. Adam became a living soul. The disciples were born-again. The disciples were baptized in the Holy Spirit. This all speaks of God’s activity to cause man to come alive spiritually, which then impacts us physically and in all aspects of life. We are born again and filled with Holy Spirit- all by the breath of God. He breathes His life in us over and over, giving us a fresh filling of Holy Spirit (Ephesians 5:18). The breath of God gives life to our mortal bodies, delivering us from sickness and disease (Romans 8:11).

Again he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the Lord. Thus saith the Lord God unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live: And I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I am the Lord. So I prophesied as I was commanded: and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold a shaking, and the bones came together, bone to his bone. And when I beheld, lo, the sinews and the flesh came up upon them, and the skin covered them above: but there was no breath in them. Then said he unto me, Prophesy unto the wind, prophesy, son of man, and say to the wind, Thus saith the Lord God; Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live. So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up upon their feet, an exceeding great army. As God moves by His Spirit, He breathes His breath into our lives, What was once dead, breathes and lives again. So, speak, and prophesy life and you’ll see that which was sick, dying, or dead receive the breath of God and live again.
