Seeing The King in His Beauty

The closer we get to the Lord, the more we can see the Lord in His beauty and glory.

In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple. Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly. And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory. And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke. Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts. Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar: And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged. Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me. Isaiah 6:1-8 (KJV)

The predominant attribute of God is His holiness. He is separate from sin. He is pure. That is why they cry, “Holy, holy, holy!”As we worship the Lord, we’ll experience His glory, but the true delight and reward is seeing Jesus now and then face-to-face one day.

Thine eyes shall see the king in his beauty: they shall behold the land that is very far off. Isaiah 33:17 (KJV)

As we worship Jesus, the things of Earth will fade away and fall off. The world’s attraction will lose its grip on us and won’t hold our attention. Instead, we’ll be seeing the One who is more beautiful than anyone or anything. We’ll be gazing upon the Everlasting One, and we’ll let go of the temporal things of this life to take hold of the eternal. Our hearts will be captivated, and we’ll want more of Jesus. We’ll desire to spend time with Him in His Word and presence. Then we too will cry, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of Hosts!”

As we see Jesus, we will be more willing to go and tell others about our beautiful, glorious King. Then, they too will come to know King Jesus for themselves.

Then, one day, God will be with us for all eternity. His tabernacle, His dwelling place will be with us on Earth, and Jesus will rule forever (Revelation 21:1-5, 22:1-5). Then we will forever behold the great King in His beauty and glory!
