T-H-E

There is a very, very small word with huge importance. The is a word that does not seem significant, but in the Scriptures and in the Christian faith, it means a great deal. The is a definite article, meaning it identifies a specific thing or sets it apart as singular, the only one. For example, we can say “car” and it could mean one of many vehicles. However, when we say “the car,” we are speaking of a specific vehicle and none other.

The word the is imperative for our faith. Let me show you what I mean.

THE Name

Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: Ephesians 1:20-21 (KJV)

In the Old Testament we see that God was understood by His Names and those names declared the various manifestations of the Lord. These Names are fulfilled in Jesus, which is THE name above all names. The name of Jesus gives us authority over the enemy and empowers us for victory.

THE Promise

For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us. II Corinthians 1:20 (KJV)

We have THE promise of eternal life. God has promised us many good things, but THE ultimate promise is that faith in Christ would allow us to live with Him forever.

THE Glory

By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Romans 5:2 (KJV)

In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple. Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly. And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory. Isaiah 6:1-3 (KJV)

THE glory is THE manifest presence of THE one and only God. We will experience it both now and forever. There are many manifestations of THE glory- healing, provision, power- but it is always THE glory of God.

THE Word

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. John 1:1 (KJV)

THE Word of God is Jesus, from which all things come and by which they are sustained. The Word of God is His Will and it is Truth. And from THE Bible, THE only written Word of God, God will give us a word that always glorifies THE Word, Jesus Christ. THE Word of God reveals THE Living Word, Jesus Christ.

THE Blood

Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, Hebrews 10:19 (KJV)

THE only blood that has the power to wash away sin forever is THE blood of Jesus Christ. The Old Testament believers offered animals to cover sin for a season until Jesus Christ shed His blood once and for all. THE blood of Jesus saves, forgives, heals, protects, and gives access to God through a new and better Covenant. THE blood gives us our redemptive and covenant rights.

THE Body

By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. Hebrews 10:10 (KJV)

THE body of Jesus Christ was offered for us. And as a result of that sacrifice, we become THE body of Christ.

THE Sacrifice

For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. Hebrews 9:26 (KJV)

Jesus offered Himself just one time as THE final sacrifice for sin.

THE Covenant

But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises. Hebrews 8:6 (KJV)

THE New Testament is THE new and better Covenant based on better promises than the promises of the old one.

THE Trinity

For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. I John 5:7 (KJV)

Our God is THE one true God, He is one God in three Persons, THE Trinity. THE Father, THE Son, THE Holy Spirit together equal THE God, THE Creator of the universe.

THE is a small word, but it sets apart our God as THE one true God, and THE things of God as one of a kind. There are not many Gods. There are not many ways to heaven. THE Word tells us there is one God and one Way to get to Him. We need to seek these one-of-a-kind things to know THE Christ and become more like Him. I’ll bet you will never overlook this important word in Scripture ever again!

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen. II Corinthians 13:14 (KJV)
