Enlargement Is Coming

Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness: thou hast enlarged me when I was in distress; have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer…. But know that the Lord hath set apart him that is godly for himself: the Lord will hear when I call unto him. Psalm 4:1, 3 (KJV)

This is a psalm written by David. David means beloved. A psalmist is one who loves to sing songs to God. In the first verse, he asks God to hear him when he calls. In verse 3, he says that the Lord will hear when he calls to Him. We see that when God’s beloved ones call on Him, it activates Him on our behalf.

Enlarged in the Hebrew is the word rachab, and it has a rich meaning. It means to be broadened, to be enlarged, wide, large, make room, to extend, open wide, to gain living space or territory (especially in the work of the Lord), gaining personal relief from danger.

Even in our distress, in trying times that we have all experienced, God is promising expansion and increase. He says, “Regardless of where you’re at now, I am making room for you, to take you to a bigger, brighter place.” He is making room for us in our new place to gain living space, a wide space where restrictions are lifted and limitations are broken. We will gain new territory in the work of the Lord as God meets our needs and gives us our hearts’ desires. He is faithful to reward us for our labor of love.

God is enlarging us and our lives to receive more from Him. Where we are now may be a time of distress, but it will give way to a place of rest as God puts us in our place. It is a place God has prepared for us all along. God is enlarging and preparing good things for us, so that when we get there it’s all ready for us. This is the time of expansion into a better life. Enjoy!
