Full Redemption

Full Redemption

Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. I Peter 2:24 (KJV)

“Who his own self” speaks of the person of Jesus Christ. He was and is a real person. He had a spirit, soul, and body. He gave Himself for us, bearing our sins. He gave up His body for us.

Like us, Jesus was and is a three-part being. His spirit communted with God. With His soul (mind, will, and emotions), through His personality, He expressed Himself to others with deep thought (using His mind) and real emotions. He taught others truth and felt for others, giving them help. He chose to love others no matter what (His will). Using His body, He gave freely to serve others , then offered up His body on the altar of the cross as the supreme sacrifice. He did this to bear and take away our sins so that we could live again.

When we’re born-again, we win again over sin, and we can live as righteous people because Jesus lived righteously with no sin. Jesus came and lives within us, making us the dwelling place of God. Christ shed His blood for our sins, took the stripes on His back for our healing, and was separated from God so we could be reunited with Him. Truly, it is a full redemption because our redeemer gave Himself fully up for us, spirit, soul, and body.
