Christ Took Our Sin, Sickness, and Separation From God

Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. I Peter 2:24 (KJV)

Back in the Old Testament, animal sacrifices took man’s place, bearing man’s sins in their own bodies as a substitute. When Jesus came, He became the Lamb of God, and He Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree.

Jesus took sin in His body and nailed sin to the cross. The tree, or cross, was an execution stake. Jesus Christ was executed and shed His blood in our stead. He died as a criminal, yet He was totally innocent. He took our place as a perfect sacrifice for us. Christ died for our sins to make us dead to sin so that we would no longer live in sin but would be made right before God.

He made us right to live right and to live unto God. Now we’re alive unto God because of the new birth. We are righteous and we can live right. We are righteous because Christ died to make us right, give us rights, and enable us to live right.

The stripes Christ took on His back bought our healing and health. Just as He paid the price for our sins to make us righteous, He also paid for our healing- to save us from sickness and make us whole. He bore our sins in His own body and He took stripes on His body for our physical healing.

Jesus took care of every need of mankind at the cross. He bore all our punishment. In His own body He took our sin, sickness, and separation from God. He did all this to make us righteous, to heal us, and to bring us back to the God who loves us sacrificially..
