Jesus Bore Our Sins AND Our Sickness
Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. I Peter 2:24 (KJV)
Christ carried the burden of our sins. He was nailed to the cross, so we would stop sinning and start living right. By his cuts and bruises you are healed. I Peter 2:24 (Contemporary English Version, CEV)
Just as Jesus bore our sins, He bore our sickness as well. Sin once made us sick. Sin once made us dead- dead to God. Jesus died for our sins, to make us dead to sin so we could live unto God, living righteously and not in sin. We’re no longer sinners, but saints.
Sin made us sinners, but Jesus made us righteous. Sin made us sick, but Jesus made us whole. Jesus doesn’t want us to let sin dominate us. Jesus does not want sickness to have dominion over us. He bore both our sins and sickness so we don’t have to.
Jesus took our sins and gave us His righteousness. He took our sickness and gave us His healing. Now we live right to keep the doors closed to sin and sickness. We walk in our forgiveness and healing. As we walk in our righteousness, we will walk all over sin and sickness, and we’ll experience the good health that comes from His stripes.
He personally carried our sins in His body on the cross [willingly offering Himself on it, as on an altar of sacrifice], so that we might die to sin [becoming immune from the penalty and power of sin] and live for righteousness; for by His wounds you [who believe] have been healed. I Peter 2;24 (Amplified Bible, AMP)
