Proclaiming the Lordship of Jesus- Part 2
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Romans 10:9-10 (KJV)
How is a person saved? It happens as we confess Jesus is Lord and sincerely believe in our hearts that God raised Him from the dead. Unless we recognize Him as Master and Owner of all, we cannot be saved. Saved is the Greek word sozo, meaning to save, deliver, protect, make whole, heal, preserve, and do well. Salvation is a complete package, but we must make Jesus the Lord of our lives to receive it.
Sozo, to save, is from soteria, which means salvation and speaks of deliverance from danger, suffering, etc. Spiritual, eternal salvation is granted immediately by God to those who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. It brings the experience of God’s power to deliver from the bondage of sin. It delivers us from the wrath to come. All blessings are bestowed upon those who are in Christ, to those who have declared Him to be Lord.
Just as we believe and confess that Jesus is Lord to be saved, we do the same in our Christian walk to receive by faith everything Christ provided for us. If Lord means owner and ruler, then the One who is Lord owns and rules over all, meaning He is our source and resource. As we place our trust in the lordship of Jesus Christ, we walk in faith to receive all He promised. We enforce the forgiveness, healing, provision, protection, freedom, victory, and blessings of God in our lives. We exercise our authority over the enemy by our confession of Jesus as Lord. Proclaiming the lordship of Jesus makes Him lord over every area of life, and gives us total victory.
Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made the same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ. Acts 2:36 (KJV)
The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:) Acts 10:36 (KJV)
And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. Acts 16:31 (KJV)
