A Study on the Fruits of Righteous
For with the heart a person believes (adheres to, trusts in, and relies on Christ) and so is justified (declared righteous, acceptable to God), and with the mouth he confesses (declares openly and speaks out freely his faith) and confirms [his] salvation. Romans 10:10 (Amplified Bible Classic Edition, AMPC)
When we believed on Jesus Christ, we were made righteous, or declared right and acceptable to God. He put us into right standing with Himself.
For if because of one man’s trespass (lapse, offense) death reigned through that one, much more surely will those who receive [God’s] overflowing grace (unmerited favor) and the free gift of righteousness [putting them into right standing with Himself] reign as kings in life through the one Man Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One). Romans 5:17 (Amplified Bible Classic Edition, AMPC)
Through righteousness, we reign in life through Christ. We reign over devils, enemies, sin, sickness, lack, defeat, and trouble of any kind. We are not dominated, but we dominate. We take dominion everywhere we go. We love people but we dominate anything that would try to dominate us.
Therefore if any person is [ingrafted] in Christ (the Messiah) he is a new creation (a new creature altogether); the old [previous moral and spiritual condition] has passed away. Behold, the fresh and new has come…! For our sake He made Christ [virtually] to be sin Who knew no sin, so that in and through Him we might become [endued with, viewed as being in, and examples of] the righteousness of God [what we ought to be, approved and acceptable and in right relationship with Him, by His goodness]. II Corinthians 5:17, 21 (Amplified Bible Classic Edition, AMPC)
Because we are made righteous in Christ, it produces fruit in our lives as we become who we are. Out of a righteous nature, we can walk upright before God. We can think, speak, and act rightly. Our lives will bless humanity and glorify God. Fruits of righteousness include:
Prayers answered. I John 5:14-15
Boldness with God. Hebrews 4:16
Rights with God Hebrews 10:19-22
God’s promises claimed and fulfilled. Romans 4:13, 16,21-25
Forgiveness through faith in Christ’s blood. Romans 3:25
No longer servants of sin. Romans 6:18
We have help to yield to and obey God. Romans 6:13, 16
Protection from sin, condemnation, guilt, and shame. Ephesians 6:14
Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God. Philippians 1:11 (KJV)
Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;) I Corinthians 9:10 (KJV)
By Jesus Christ, we can be filled with the fruits of righteousness and that righteousness can increase. The fruit of the Spirit is also fruit of righteousness. Because of righteousness, we can walk in love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance.
Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby. Hebrews 12:11 (KJV)
Correction from God brings forth the fruit of righteousness .He teaches us how to live right and do things right, which produces peace with God and others.
If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of him. I John 2:29 (KJV)
For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. I John 5:4 (KJV)
Righteousness does not come through our own effort. It comes from faith in God. It shows we are born of God, and through this we overcome.
