A New Way of Life- Part 2
Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. I John 3:9 (KJV)
We are now born of God. Sin no longer has dominion over us. We are dead to sin and alive to God.
Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. Romans 6:11-14 (KJV)
The key to overcoming sin is to say yes to Jesus, moment by moment. Remember and be aware- have a God consciousness that God is in you. You don’t have to try to overcome on your own.
Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. I John 4:4 (KJV)
Put the Greater One to work in you. Remember that Jesus shed His blood, sacrificing His body and life for our freedom. We are not trying to obtain the victory; we maintain our victory in Christ. We need to declare who Jesus is- our Redeemer, Savior, Deliverer, Lord, God- and keep sin in its place. Sin has been defeated by Jesus. Sin shall not have dominion or authority over us because Jesus is now our Lord, our Master, our Ruler.
As we walk in this by remembering daily and declaring that Jesus is our Lord, sin gets weaker and we get stronger in Christ. Now that we’re born of God, we live from our new nature, the God nature. God is our Father and we are His children. As such, we imitate our Daddy, and we don’t practice sin as a habitual lifestyle. We say no to sin and yes to God. As we do, we will live out who God made us to be- children of the Lord God, with His seed, life, nature, and character!
