The Promise of Deliverance
Many of the psalms speak of our help coming from the Lord, who delivers us from trouble. Remember that trouble won’t last, but the Lord endures forever.
Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. Psalm 91:3 (KJV)
This promises us that the Lord shall deliver us from the hunter’s trap. The hunter can be the devil or a human enemy. Either way, this is a prophetic promise of protection and deliverance. We need not fear sabotage or trickery from our foes.
If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, now may Israel say; If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, when men rose up against us: Then they had swallowed us up quick, when their wrath was kindled against us: Then the waters had overwhelmed us, the stream had gone over our soul: Then the proud waters had gone over our soul. Blessed be the Lord, who hath not given us as a prey to their teeth. Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken, and we are escaped. Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth. Psalm 124:1-8 (KJV) emphasis mine
Psalm 124 is also a psalm of deliverance, and verse 7 specifically is a fulfillment of the prophetic promise we saw in Psalm 91- protection from the trap of the hunter, meaning anyone who comes against us or tries to trap us. The fowler’s snare is broken and we are escaped, or delivered. This promises release and freedom.
This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles…. The righteous cry, and the Lord heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles…. Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all. Psalm 34:6, 17, 19 (KJV) emphasis mine
Psalm 34 is a psalm of praise and trust in God’s deliverance. We cry to Him and He hears us, saving us out of our troubles. It’s a done deal. When we cry to Him, He hears us and swings into action on our behalf, bringing us deliverance out of all our trials. His deliverance is promised and guaranteed . Our God is the Deliverer. He brings us out of ALL troubles- not a portion, but all of them. When He delivers us, we triumph over the enemy.
The Lord, Yahweh Jehovah, stands ready to fight for us. He is just a call away. Call Him up and let Him deliver you. You have His promise on it and His power to perform all things well for you.
