A Day Like Any Other?
Today is Monday, April 6, 2026, the day after Resurrection Day. I suppose it could be a day like any other, but it shouldn’t be. Actually no day should be treated as a day like any other. No day is common when viewed in the light of the resurrection of Christ.
In 33 AD, Jesus the Messiah (Christ) died on a cross, was dead for three days, and rose back to life on the third day. Crucifixion, possibly the most barbaric form of execution, was not uncommon in the Roman Empire. This event, on a day like any other, actually turned out to be a world-changing event. The miraculous resurrection of Jesus Christ turned the world upside-down, and things have never been the same since. Thank God for that!
He was God in the flesh, the Son of the Living God, Who willingly died and went to hell in our place to pay the price for everyone’s sins. His gruesome death, His three days in the depths of hell, and His amazing resurrection brought mankind back into relationship with the Father. The penalty for sin was paid once and for all. Death was defeated, and the devil was humiliated and stripped of his authority.
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. Matthew 5;16 (NKJV)
So, today, what will you do with the sacrifice of Jesus? What will you do with the eternal life He purchased for you? Will you view this day as any other? Or will you see each day as a day to live for Christ, a day to build His kingdom and to rule and reign in every area of society? Because He lives, this day and every other day is full of promise and full of potential.
So, on this day, as you trudge off to work, to school, or just to the kitchen for a cup of coffee, consider the possibilities that lie ahead of you today. You will have opportunities to extend the love of Christ, to push back darkness, and to expand the influence of Jesus throughout the world. Will you take those opportunities? Or will you, thinking of this as a day like any other, miss them, and let them pass you by?
The early church took every opportunity to live for Christ. As a result, many were martyred, being crucified, burned alive, torn to pieces by wild animals, or put to death in numerous other torturous ways. They saw every day as an opportunity for them to do something for the One who did everything for them. Do we view each day of our lives with the same sense of significance?
This is the day the Lord has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24 (NKJV)
Today is April 6, 2026, and it is NOT a day like any other. Use it to glorify God, to demonstrate His power, and to share the light and love of Jesus everywhere. And tomorrow, and the day after, and the day after….
