Stay Fixed On God To Be Filled With God

Stay Fixed On God To Be Filled With God

What are you filled with? Whatever we focus on and fix our eyes and hearts upon is what we become full of.

Let my mouth be filled with thy praise and with thy honour all the day. Psalm 71:8 (KJV)

Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's. Psalm 103:5 (KJV)

In Psalm 103, the word things would be better translated words. When the good words of God are in your mouth, He renews your youth to be like an eagle: strong, overcoming, and soaring.

I am the Lord thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt: open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it. But my people would not hearken to my voice; and Israel would none of me. So I gave them up unto their own hearts' lust: and they walked in their own counsels. Psalm 81:10-12 (KJV)

Israel would not listen to God or submit to Him, so He gave them over to the hardness and imaginations of their hearts, allowing them to walk in their own counsel instead of the counsel and wisdom of God. We will either be filled with God or with ourselves. We must submit to God to be filled with God. If we do not, we are left with our own lower level “wisdom.”

We must open our mouths wide to Him so He can fill us with what He has for us: His Word and Spirit. In other words, we have to submit to Him in all areas, including what words we use. Then our mouths will be filled with God’s praise and honor. And, we will honor God by walking in His ways.

God will satisfy our mouths with good words, whereby we speak His Word and His praise. This keeps our hearts right with God where we listen to God’s voice and aren’t filled with lusts, or wrong and ungodly desires that are associated with wrong imaginations. Imaginations are mental images or mind pictures which proceed from the heart. When we have wrong desires, we won’t walk in the counsel of God’s Word, which is God’s ways.

We must guard our hearts and mouths so that what enters us is of God and not of the ungodly world. Our hearts and minds must be fixed on God, where we see and behold Him, rather than sin. As our hearts stay fixed on Him, with our mind’s imagination focused on God, we become full of God. And we’ll be giving God praise and glorifying Him by walking in His ways all our days.

Stay fixed on God so as not to be fixated on self, sin, or satan. What we fix our attention on is what we will be filled with.
