Taking On The Attitude of Christ

Taking On The Attitude of Christ

Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Philippians 2:5-11 (KJV)

When we do what Christ did, God will do for us what he did for Christ. We must have the same mind and attitude that Christ had. Christ was in the form and nature of God because He was and is God. He was God in the flesh. Now, we are His body, so we are in Him.

Christ sought no reputation. He lowered Himself to be come like us. We must now become servants just like Jesus. We must not seek a reputation, but seek to serve.

He was found in the fashion, or appearance of a man. He humbled Himself and took the low position, becoming obedient to death. He even lowered Himself to the worst kind of death- that of the cross. we must also humble ourselves to the low position, to obey and serve all sacrificially.

As a result, God exalted Jesus to the highest position and gave Him the highest name. In the same way, when we humble ourselves, He will lift us up and promote us. All will bow. All will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord over all. As we bow and confess the lordship of Jesus, God gives us the use of Jesus’ name, which gives us the authority to overcome anyone or anything. We are seated with Christ in heavenly places, and by our blood-bought authority, all things come under the Lordship of Christ and under our feet.

That is what it means to take on the mind of Christ, having the same attitude that was in Him. He is the Head of the church, the body of Christ, so together we exercise authority.

We now live the life of Christ. Jesus came, lived, died, rose victorious, ascended, and made us equal heirs with Him. Now we share in His victory and all He purchased. As we walk out the Word, exercising our redemptive rights, we lay hold of all that is ours. And, it starts with letting this mind, this attitude, be in us as it was in Christ Jesus.
