God Spared Not Jesus to Spare Us

God Spared Not Jesus to Spare Us

He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? Romans 8:32 (KJV)

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16 (KJV)

God did not spare His own unique, one and only son, Jesus Christ. He did not spare Him of suffering and of becoming a sin offering, of being crucified by satan and evil people. According to Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible, spared means to abstain or treat leniently. God was not lenient with Jesus, but allowed Him to bear everything that was intended for us. Jesus was separated from the Father on the cross and in hell for three days and nights (Matthew 27:46, Acts 2:31). He did this so we would never be separated from God (Ephesians 2:13-18).

For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. II Corinthians 5:21 (KJV)

God spared Jesus from nothing. Instead, Jesus took our place to spare us from sin and its dominion. We used to be sinners with a sin nature because Adam sinned (Romans 5). Jesus became sin to take away our sin and our sin nature and to make us righteous (John 1:21, Ephesians 2:1).

Jesus suffered, taking our sickness upon His own body to take our sickness away (I Peter 2:24). Jesus was spared from nothing, but experienced the full punishment of sin so we could be spared.

God allowed the princes of this world to crucify the Lord of Glory. Had they known, they would have never done it (I Corinthians 2:8). They walked right into the trap set for them. Satan and his demons fell right into God’s plan to spare mankind.

Jesus was not spared from suffering for us. He did it all for us. He did it to spare us. He suffered so we don’t have to. Because Jesus gave His all for us, through Jesus Christ God has given us all things freely to enjoy. Romans 8:32 asks a question, “How shall He not freely give us all things?” II Peter 1:3 answers it.

According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: II Peter 1:3 (KJV)
