There's Meaning Under The Son

But most fortunate of all are those who are not yet born. For they have not seen all the evil that is done under the sun…. I observed yet another example of something meaningless under the sun. Ecclesiastes 4:3, 7 (New Living Translation, NLT)

Life is not fair, and there are many evils under the sun- in this fallen world. There’s a lot of meaningless stuff under the sun as well. Many people are oppressed because of wrong people being in power. It seems the dead are better off than the living because they can’t be oppressed anymore. King Solomon, who is credited with writing Ecclesiastes, was correct in what he wrote here- if we only look at this from a natural, earthly point of view.

There are indeed many meaningless things under the sun when we live wrong, pursue the wrong things, or when we mistreat people. However, when we come under the Son of God, Jesus, there is meaning to life because Jesus is life. He gives purpose to life. When we come under the Son, Jesus gives us justice for all the injustice, right treatment for all the mistreatment, and shows us the best things for us to pursue instead of wrong, ungodly pursuits.

It is true that there is nothing new under the sun, but when we come under the Son, under the lordship of Jesus Christ, all things are made new. He makes us new, gives us new lives, new beginnings, and new meaning to our lives. He gives us new purpose and new direction.We don’t have to live aimlessly or meaninglessly.

Christ gives meaning to everything in our lives, We have purpose when we live under the Son.
