Heal The Pain; Plant The Word
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, Luke 4:18 (KJV)
Preach the gospel; heal the brokenhearted.
There have been times in my life where I would seek God for answers to the traumatic things I was going through. Then, I would hear my pastor teach about the very thing I was seeking God about. However, there was a disconnect because i was so brokenhearted I couldn’t comprehend it or apply it to my situation. As I began to heal, I was better able to apply the truths of the Word to my situation.
Some people can’t hear or receive what we’re saying because they’re too broken to lay hold of God’s promises. So, we must help them walk through their healing with love, patience, and prayer. Then, we can minister God’s Word to them so they grow or receive the answers they need. Sometimes the most Christian thing we can do for someone is just to be there and love them through their process of healing.
Yes, i know that God sent His Word to heal them (Psalm 107:20). I’m not denying that. However, if they can’t comprehend and lay hold of God’s promises because they are so broken, they will remain broken. But, when God sends an anointed person across their path, the anointing on that person can minister to the hurting. The oil of God’s anointing is poured in their wounds and they can be healed.
Sometimes God has to bypass our minds and touch a broken spirit by the Holy Spirit to heal them so they ca receive God’s Word. And when they can receive that Word, they can gain stability. Then, what God began with His Spirit, He can continue by the power of the Word to make them totally whole.
