Restoring From Broken to Whole
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord. Luke 4 :18-19 (KJV)
At some point in life everyone gets broken, where we hurt so badly that we have to pour our heart and tears out to Jesus. Jesus has come, died, and rose again to heal us. He will heal every broken area in us and in our lives. Just remember that nothing is beyond repair with Jesus. He is the Specialist at healing the brokenhearted.
Heal in the Greek here is refers to physical treatment, being made whole, as well as spiritual healing. Jesus is the Christ; the Anointed One and His anointing. He will rub in His healing anointing oil with His healing hand and touch to heal all that is broken within us. He heals spirit, soul, body, relationally, financially, and much more! He even heals broken dreams and callings.
In the Greek, brokenhearted in this verse means to rub together, to shatter, to break in pieces by crushing. Jesus will put back together all the broken pieces of our hearts. He restores that which has been crushed. No matter the cause, Jesus is the cure.
Set means to send away. Thus, set at liberty means that Jesus sends away every hurt and brings freedom.
Bruised means to smite, to break in pieces, to shatter, to be broken by calamity.
The world we live in is a broken place with broken people and lives. By the Spirit of the Lord, Jesus is anointed to preach, or proclaim, the good news of the Gospel.
He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions. Psalm 107:20 (KJV)
Jesus is the Living Word. The Bible is the written word. There is the rhema (Greek), the spoken Word. God has a word for us for every problem. No matter your situation, God has promises to heal and deliver.
An anointed word from God will:
Bless the poor.
Heal the brokenhearted.
Deliver the captives.
Recover sight to the blind (physically and spiritually).
Set at liberty those who are bruised.
Preach the acceptable year of the Lord, which is the year of Jubilee (Leviticus 25). All debts will be cancelled, all people will be set free, everything lost is restored.
When Jesus restores us, it is better than before- and we end up with more than before (Job 42). For anything that is broken, God’s Word has been spoken to give you a token of reward. Cash in on the promises of God and receive and see what God will make it. It will be the best it can be. You and your life will be whole.
