Daily Contact With God
We need God everyday, all day. We need to stay in tune and in touch with God all the time for all our lives. How do we do this? Is it really possible? Yes, it is. We ask Jesus into our hearts by believing and confessing Him as Savior and Lord (Romans 10:8-10). It all starts with having Jesus, and then Jesus has us through our daily surrender.
But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. Matthew 4:4 (KJV)
As we connect with God’s Word, we contact God. We stay in God’s Word to stay connected to Him. The Word speaks to us, teached us, and reveals to us about God, our salvation, and how to do life with God. The Word is our daily bread that sustains us. It enables us to know God, hear Him, and have a relationship with God. We are to keep the Word in our hearts and mouths (Joshua 1:8). The more we know the Word, the more we know God. God and His Word are one (John 1:1, 14). To stay in touch with God, stay in touch with the Word.
For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries…. Wherefore let him that speaketh in an unknown tongue pray that he may interpret. I Corinthians 14:2, 13 (KJV)
When we pray, specifically in tongues, our spirits contact God. We pray directly to God; my spirit to His Spirit. We can talk to Him in tongues, and then we can listen for Him to speak to our hearts that which is on His heart. Praying in tongues goes beyond the natural and helps us contact God. Deep calls to deep. God’s Spirit calls to our spirits. We go beyond our intellect, and our fellowship with Him becomes more spiritual, based on God’s Word.
My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: John 10:27 (KJV)
We stay in tune by listening and maintaining an awareness of God. Since He lives in us, we can be aware of Him at all times, thus having constant contact with Him. Our consciousness of God makes us aware of His abiding presence (God in us), His omnipresence (God everywhere), and His manifest presence (feeling God). We can always be practicing God’s presence, staying in contact with Him at all times.
What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also. I Corinthians 14:15 (KJV)
We can stay in contact with God by worshipping Him and singing to Him. It enables us to stay in communication, loving God and receiving His love. We may sing a song we know, songs that we spontaeously receive from Holy Spirit, or even songs in tongues. This is a way of “flowing” in the Spirit, a means of constant contact with the Lord. Rivers of living water flow from our spirits and we drink from them, being filled and refilled with Holy Spirit. A constant flow of worshsip like this makes us aware of God deep inside us and all around us.
And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; Ephesians 5:18-19 (KJV)
Being filled with Holy Spirit daily helps us to have daily contact and encounters with God.
By waiting, seeking, drawing near to God, listening to Him, and pouring out our love to Him, we can stay in daily contact with the Lord. These and so many other ways exist to help us connect with Him to feel His touch, exprience His presence, and receive divine revelation from Him. We can partake of His power, glory, wisdom, and the unlimited love He offers. Daily contact with God is what gives our lives vitality, motivation, and meaning..
