You Determine Your Harvest

You Determine Your Harvest

God has guarateed us all a harvest. When we sow, we reap as we follow the instructions and directions God has laid out in His Word. It is us, and not God, who determines our harvest. Yes, we sow and God gives the increase. but what we sow, how we sow, and where we sow will determine the harvest we receive.

First of all, we must sow as cheerful givers. It is important to sow with a right heart attidue. When we sow with expectatation, it helps the seed to take root and grow.

But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. II Corinthians 9:6 (KJV)

What you sow, that’s what you’ll reap. In other words, your harvest can be limited by how much seed you sow and the type of the seed. You are to sow for what you need. If you need a certain type of harvest, that is the seed you need to sow. You can’t reap wheat if you sow corn. If you need love, sow love. if you need money, sow money. If you need time, sow your time.

Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. Galatians 6:7 (KJV)

Keep in mind, harvest can grow from wicked seed just as easily as good seed, so you must watch what you sow by your words and actions.

And other fell on good ground, and did yield fruit that sprang up and increased; and brought forth, some thirty, and some sixty, and some an hundred. Mark 4:8 (KJV)

The type of ground you sow in is important. You must sow your seed in good ground in order to get an increase. Where you place your seed is a key to how much harvest you’ll see. If you sow your seed into a person, ministry, or situation that is not producing fruit for the kingdom, you’ll see little to no harvest. Ask the Lord who to sow into and be discerning with the planting of your seed.

Once you are convinced someone is good ground, you can plant, watch it spring up, and bring forth a harvest as you speak and act on God’s Word. You determine what you will receive by the words of your mouth. Negative words of unbelief can abort the harvest. God always wants to out-give us, but we must be in agreement with God so He can do.so.

Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit….  I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. John 15:2, 5 (KJV) emphasis mine

Notice these verses refer to fruit, more fruit, and much fruit, showing a progression, or a determination of how much harvest will come from the seed sown. He will grow what you sow. You can go from 30, 60 to 100 fold in your receiving. It is determined by the sower, the amount and quality of seed sown, the ground in which it is sown, and the words spoken over it to water it. God wants to grow you and your seed, and He’s always working with you to bring increase and take you where He wants you to be, but you must cooperate with Him.

There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty. The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.. Proverbs 11:24-25 (KJV)

You can’t out-give God. What you sow, He increases. It is His law of sowing and reaping. God is always looking for ways to bless you, but you have to give Him something to work with. As you give, He has something to grow. He loves to work with His children to multiply the seed sown. But if little seed is sown, the harvest is limited. Believe God is a God of increase and give generously.

Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again. Luke 6:38 (KJV)

God is a giving God, He multiplies what you sow when you do so in faith. He loves to grow our seed, but how well it grows is greatly dependent upon you and me.
