Some of the Benefits of Tongues

For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries. I Corinthians 14:2 (KJV)

Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Romans 8:26 (KJV)

You may be baptized in the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues, but many Christians don’t understand the benefits of operating in their heavenly language. Today I want to list some of the benefits of praying in tongues, and hopefully you’ll be encouraged to speak in your heavenly language more..

• Praying in the Spirit is a way to pray beyond your own understanding. You pray the perfect will and wisdom of God.

• It lets Holy Spirit pray through to where He releases His peace that passes understanding. It brings a peace so great that you can’t fully comprehend it, but you experience the results: peace to your heart and mind. It allows you to rest, with calmness in your soul. It enables you to think soundly, choose correctly, and have stable emotions. Such a peace comes through praying in tongues.

• By praying in tongues you can tap into God’s wisdom. When you don’t know what to do, pray in tongues and wisdom will come from your inner man (spirit) to your middle man (soul), and you’ll know what to do.

• Answers to your questions will come more easily, because tongues positions you to hear what God is saying. Direction comes because you’ll be more sensitive and in tune with the leading of the Holy Spirit. Problems will be more easily solved. It helps you to talk to God and hear Him speak.

• Battles are won supernaturally when you pray in tongues.

• Spiritual growth is accelerated.

• Revelation of Scripture comes.

• It enables you to rightly study and divide the Word of Truth, so you understand what it says.

• Relationships will flourish because of the benefits of tongues. It helps you to have better homes and families. It helps youraise your children in the Lord and love your spouse properly.

• Praying in tongues edifies and builds up your spirit man. Like physically lifting weights builds up your physical body, praying in tongues strengthens your spirit.

• It energizes and charges your spirit man, so you have power to run on.

• Tongues prepares you for the rapture, the catching away of the church.

• Praying in tongues makes you more hungry and thirsty for God. This brings a filling, or a refilling, and refreshing of God’s Spirit, from God’s presence.

• It helps you go deeper with God. It helps you to worship God at higher levels. It helps you draw close to God.

• Tongues brings breakthrough and new freedoms.

• Tongues promotes spiritual maturity. It helps you grow in the fruit of the Spirit. It also helps you flow in the gifts of the Spirit.

• Tongues promotes unity in the church.

• It helps you go through rough times.

• It helps you to wait on God and to wait for God.

• It enhances your prayer life. Tongues helps you intercede for others.

• Tongues brings a fresh anointing. It releases God’s power.

The more we pray in tongues, the better. The list of benefits goes on and on. Pray in tongues and see what happens in you and in your life!
