Rest in the Presence of God

He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. Psalm 91:1 (KJV)

Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. Psalm 91:1 (New Living Translation, NLT)

Dwelleth means to rest. it comes from the Hebrew word yashab, meaning to sit down, to dwell, to remain, inhabit, stay, to ease oneself. It describe being in God’s presence, which is a place of rest. As we remain in God’s presence, we find rest in Him.

As we sit down to fellowship, commune and remain in God’s presence, we live in Him. This is to be our way of life for God is our life. We find rest from stress. There is no fear for God is near. The secret place is God’s presence. He is our hiding place, our refuge, our shelter, and our safe house.

Most High means that God is higher and greater than anyone or anything. We can rest because there no one greater than our Protector God. He is our Protector, Provider, and Preserver. He is the Exalted One. There is no one higher than Him. God is the shade Who covers us from all that would try to hurt us. His shadow lets us know that He is near and covers us so no harm will come to us.

Truly knowing God lets us rest in Him. We can be free from worry, stress, and fear because God’s got us. God’s got everything covered. We cast all our care on God because He cares for us (I Peter 5:7)

Rest in ease and peace because God’s got you. He is and has all we’ll ever need.
