Ruling Over Trouble
Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me…. Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. John 14:1, 27 (KJV)
Troubled is the Greel word tarosso, meaning to stir up, to trouble, to agitate. It is used figuratively of the mind, referring to stirring up or disturbing the mind with various emotions. It means to be disquieted.
Trouble comes to trouble you, but you do not have to allow yourself to be troubled. How? By keeping your peace. Let God’s peace rule your heart instead of trouble. Don’t let trouble stir you up or allow emotions to get the best of you. Keep your peace in order to keep emotions in check and stable. Yes, you can control your emotions rather than allowing them to control you. Let God’s peace rule you, stand guard, and watch over you. You deterine what you allow to come in and rule you.
Don’t let fear or trouble stir you up and take your peace and joy. “Let not your heart be troubled” means that you can prevent things from bothering you. You can stay calm in troubled times. Keep believing and trusting in God, which keeps us in peace.
Peace is the Greek word eirene, which means quietness, rest, calmness, an end of conflict. It speaks of prosperity and order, peace of mind, tranquility, health, and everything good. We have this peace, who is Christ (the Prince of Peace). Christ is never disturbed. As He lives in us, and we let Him rule us, trouble cannot affect us. we will rule over trouble with peace.
We overcome trouble by not letting anything stir us up or agitate us. God’s peace and the God of peace are greater than any trouble. Take authority over trouble by standing and speaking peace. Ths will bring great calmness. By holding onto your peace, you hold onto God and all that is yours in Christ.
