Don't Be Troubled

Don't Be Troubled

Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. John 14:1 (KJV)

Troubled is the Greek word tarosso, meaning to stir up, to trouble, to agitate, as in agitating water in a pool (John 5:4). Figuratively, it is used of the mind, to stir up the mind, to trouble the mind, to disturb with various emotions such as fear so as to disquiet, harass, or annoy. Believe, or trust, in God and Christ, and you’ll find rest.

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. Philippians 4:6 (KJV)

Careful means to be troubled, anxious, worried, or fretful, and refers to being distracted by many cares. Being troubled in our minds stirs up feelings of stress and anxiety. It causes care, worry, and the like. We must not allow ourselves to become upset by life’s problems. Don’t let trouble trouble you so that you become stressed and lose your peace. We start stressing when we stop believing God.

We must believe in God, giving Him our troubles and knowing that He will turn our troubles into triumph. By prayer, turn your troubles over to Him and receive His peace to guard your heart and mind from anxiety. Peace will say “no” to anxiety when it tries to come around.

Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Isaiah 26:3 (KJV)

We can maintain peace and joy and hope by believing God and keeping our minds on Him. Focus on God, and talk about Him instead of troubles. Don’t talk about your troubles all the time, but talk about God to your troubles to see them leave. Trouble your troubles by having faith in God, and your troubles will trouble you no more. Cast your cares on God, rest in God, and enjoy your day. God’s got it all worked out!
