Out of Your Mind

For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Romans 8:6 (KJV)

God has given each of us a mind to think, reason and remember. Obviously, it is a beneficial and needed thing. However, when our thoughts keep us in bondage, it is not good.

For example, if you’ve been through something and it has gone on for a long time, carnal thinking says that is the way it is always going to be. But, God tells us to get out of wrong thinking and quit thinking of it that way. We get out of wrong thinking by turning our thoughts on God. One way to accomplish this is through worship.

What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also. I Corinthians 14:15 (KJV)

When we worship God fully and freely, letting worship flow from our spirits unhindered and uncluttered by our own thoughts, we can encounter God. This allows us to see Him for who He is and keep our sights on Him. Then He helps us to think spiritual thoughts, where we think on God and His Word. When we worship God and get beyond ourselves and outside of our minds, our focus is on God. As we flow in the Spirit, as we worship God from our spirits and not our minds, unhindered and free-flowing, God touches us . He speaks to us and reveals Himself to us, along with His presence, power, promises, and provision.

Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Isaiah 26:3 (KJV)

When we flow in the Spirit, worshiping in tongues and operating out of our spirits rather than through our logical minds, we tap into life and peace. Worshiping God in spirit and truth helps us to stay out of our minds and connected to the Spirit of God.
