Financial Victory

Did you know you can have financial victory? Yes, you can! If we follow the guidance of the Holy Spirit and the wisdom of God, we can walk in great financial victory.

The first thing we must realize is that everything belongs to God, and anything good we get has come from Him.

Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above; it comes down from the Father of lights [the Creator and Sustainer of the heavens], in whom there is no variation [no rising or setting] or shadow cast by His turning [for He is perfect and never changes]. James 1:17 (Amplified Bible, AMP)

Therefore, if everything we have belongs to God, then we must honor God in how we treat it. The first way we do this is by tithing. By handing God 10% off the top, we are telling Him that we know it really all belongs to Him anyway.

Secondly, we should be regular givers. Follow the Holy Spirit in your giving and allow Him to tell you where to give and how much to give. Jim and I like to give where we have seen evidence of good fruit. In other words, we give where we know they are doing a good work for the Kingdom- either by helping the less fortunate or sending the Word of God around the Word, etc. And we ask God for discernment to show us ministries operated by people of godly character.

Just as the rich rule the poor, so the borrower is servant to the lender. Proverbs 22:7 (New Living Translation, NLT)

Thirdly, God isn’t a fan of debt, so a priority should be to pay off any debts we have. When we are in debt to someone, we are under their control, and God wants us to be free. God will show you ways to pay off debt, such as things you can sell to make some money, extras you can cut back on, and so forth.

The Lord expects us to use wisdom with our resources. Godly advice that I have heard is to divide up your income into parts and give some, save some, and spend some. Its a simple, but solid way to approach money.

The bottom line is that God wants to be involved in our money, just as He wants to be involved in other aspects of our lives. When we honor Him by tithing and giving, staying out of debt, and approaching money with a disciplined, balanced outlook, He is glorified and we live a life free of financial stress. That’s really having victory in your finances!
