God's Thoughts and Ways Can Be Ours
“Seek the Lord while he may be found; call upon him while he is near; let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the Lord, that he may have compassion on him, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. “For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it. “For you shall go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and the hills before you shall break forth into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands. Instead of the thorn shall come up the cypress; instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle; and it shall make a name for the Lord, an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off.” Isaiah 55:6-13 (English Standard Version, ESV)
Isaiah 55 is an invitation from God to seek Him and find Him. He alone satisfies, As we forsake our ungodly thoughts and wrong ways, we can receive His. His thoughts and ways are higher. God has better things promised and planned for us. As we know God’s Word by reading it, hearing it, studying it, meditating on it, and receiving divine revelation from it, God’s thoughts will become our thoughts and His ways our ways. God thinks bigger and better of us and for us. As we renew our minds to His Word, God reveals His thoughts and ways to us.
God’s Word is His thoughts. His ways are found in the Bible. God’s Word will produce in us a changed heart and a renewed mind to be more like Him. We’ll see the way God sees. We’ll think like God and walk in His ways. By studying the Word of God, we study the ways of God. His ways are to love, to give, to believe, to fellowship.
We’ll live according to the written Word. This causes our lives to be fruitful. The Word will accomplish God’s work in us and we’ll see Him working in us and in our lives. As God fulfills His Word to us, we will go out in joy, and peace will lead us because peace will be ruling in our hearts.. We will sing, clap, and praise God. God will make us fruitful and others will see the name of God upon our lives. They will see an everlasting sign; God and His works demonstrated through us. Then they too can seek and find God, knowing His thoughts, ways, works, and wonders. An everlasting sign that shall not be cut off means that God will get eternal praise as more and more turn to the Lord.
So, come to, call to, and repent before God. Get in His Word to receive His thoughts and walk in His ways. God’s Word always accomplishes God’s purposes and succeeds where He sends it. God’s Word will make us what God has called us to be and help us walk in what He has called us to walk in.
