A Heart To Be Like God

A Heart To Be Like God

Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. II Corinthians 3:17-18 (KJV)

As we behold the Lord in His Word, we are changed. That which God started when we were born-again, progresses as we allow His Spirit to change us from the inside-out. Spirit, soul, and body, we are changed by His glory. From glory to glory, the more we behold and see God in His Word and by His Spirit, the more transformation takes place. As we behold Him, we’ll have hearts for God’s heart-a desire to be like Him.

This brings liberty and freedom by the Spirit of the Lord. We’ll love, worship, hunger for, thirst for, seek after, wait for and on God. We will cry out to Him, draw near to Him, and live in His presence. We will desire God more than anyone or anything.

We will have a heart for God, desiring above all to be like Him. And we’ll be changed. We’ll love God, and love our neighbors as ourselves. When we have a heart to be like God, we gain a heart of love, for God is love. We all know people who profess to be Christians, but who do not walk in love towards others. This is because they have not allowed the Word to change them, to give them a heart to be like God.

Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. I John 4:7-8 (KJV)

As we spend time with God in His Word and in His presence, we will gain a heart to be like God, and we will walk in the love of God.
