What Our Faith Is Based On- Part 3
This is the third and final installment in our discussion about what our faith is based on. These four elements form the foundation of our faith.
God’s character- who God is.
God’s Word- what God has said.
Christ’s finished work- what God has done.
God’s power- what God will do.
We’ve already discussed the first three, and today we’ll finish by covering the fourth and final one: God’s power.
God’s Power (What God Will Do)
And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of [a]human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God. I Corinthians 2:4-5 (NKJV)
Our faith is based on God’s power and ability. One of the greatest demonstrations of His power is when He raised Jesus from the dead Of course, God’s power is on display in creation, in the acts of Jesus during His earthly ministry, and the supernatural events of both the Old and New Testaments. When faith and questions collide, put your trust in God’s power. His power is unmatched and unbeatable. Consider the most powerful forces on earth, whether it be electrical or nuclear or whatever. It pales in comparison to the power of Almighty God. Put your faith in God and His power and let God work things out.
Conclusion
We establish our faith on the four main pillars we’ve discussed. When we don’t know what to do, we need to believe God by putting the situation in His hands. Jesus committed His spirit to the Father’s keeping, and God took care of it for Him. That was real faith. Fear holds onto things, but faith lets go and gives it to God. Just as Jesus had to trust God and the power of Holy Spirit to bring Him back from the dead, we too have to trust God with our lives. Our faith won’t be in the wisdom of men, but in the person, Word, acts, and power of God. Faith in God always produces good things for us and glory for Him.
