Is Your Heart in Tune with the Lord?
O Lord, do good to those who are good, whose hearts are in tune with you. Psalm 125:4 (New Living Translation, NLT)
The Lord Yahweh, the Great I AM, the present God, the God who is, will be all we need Him to be. He is Father, Love, Savior, Protector, and the list goes on. As we keep our hearts in tune with the Lord, we will see His goodness. How do we keep our hearts in tune?
Our hearts are tuned to God’s heart and remain in tune by studying and doing God’s Word. The Word of God is like a plumb line. It shows us whether our hearts are straight and in-line with God or not. It’s like a builder who uses a plumb line to make sure something, like a wall or a foundation, is straight, or plumb. We must have a straight foundation if we are to build lives that are in line with God’s will.
Here is another example. God will tune our hearts like a musician tunes an instrument. The musician hears a right or wrong sound, and that helps him get his instrument tuned to the correct pitch. As we stay in prayer and worship, Holy Spirit tunes our hearts like instruments so we are on-key. Then our hearts and lives will produce a sweet melody that is pleasing to the Lord. Then, pure worship will flow from our hearts and lives.
When we miss it and make a mistake, repent, confess it, and let God fix it. Then, our lives will once again flow in the rhythm of God’s grace and goodness.
As our hearts are tuned to God’s heart, we are as One. We march to the beat of the Lord’s heart. And we are in good position to receive and handle the goodness that God pours out in our lives.
As we’re in tune with the Lord, we won’t miss what God has for us: blessing upon blessing.
