If It's Good, It's God

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. James 1:17 (KJV)

God is good, and He only gives good things and does good. There is absolutely nothing bad in God; He is all good. If something is good, it’s from God. If it is bad, It isn’t God.

God is perfect and He only gives what is perfect. His ways are perfect. As we walk in God’s perfect ways, it helps to perfect us, maturing us to be like God. Everything good and perfect comes down from heaven to us.

And God saw everything that He had made, and behold, it was very good (suitable, pleasant) and He approved it completely. And there was evening and there was morning, a sixth day. Genesis 1:31 (Amplified Bible Classic Edition, AMPC)

God is the Father of lights. In Him is light and there is no darkness at all. Father of light speaks of God creating light. God is the Creator of all that is good. When He finished with creation, He said it was good. If it is dark or has any darkness to it, it isn’t from God. Remember- if it is good, it is God. If it isn’t good, it isn’t God.

James tells us that there is no variableness in God, meaning He never changes. He also said there is no shadow of turning in God, referring to the fact that God is all light. Where there is total light, there are no shadows or darkness of any kind. There are no shadows, darkness, or changing shadows in God. As we walk through the valley of the shadow of death (Psalm 23:4), we can remember that the God who is all-light will light our way through to lead us out of the shadows.

God is always working and He isn’t done with a situation until it’s good. We may experience bad, yet God is good and makes everything work out for our good in the end. He is still giving us what is good and perfect for us. God is good and does good because He is only good. If it’s good, it’s God.
