Getting Justice

Getting Justice

And he told them a parable to the effect that they ought always to pray and not lose heart. He said, “In a certain city there was a judge who neither feared God nor respected man. And there was a widow in that city who kept coming to him and saying, ‘Give me justice against my adversary.’ For a while he refused, but afterward he said to himself, ‘Though I neither fear God nor respect man, yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will give her justice, so that she will not beat me down by her continual coming.’” And the Lord said, “Hear what the unrighteous judge says. And will not God give justice to his elect, who cry to him day and night? Will he delay long over them? I tell you, he will give justice to them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?” Luke 18:1-8 (English Standard Version, ESV)

Sometimes we get justice from man. At other times, no justice is given by man. What do we do when someone is doing us wrong or we are being mistreated?

The widow in the passage above was being treated wrongly and nothing was being done about it. She went to an unjust judge, which we see plenty of today. She was persistent so that this judge, although he was not just, gave her the justice she sought.

We have adversaries, both natural and spiritual. So, we must be persistent in prayer and in faith. The unjust judge in this story does not represent God for God is just at all times. He is just and does what is right and His judgments are fair- based on how we live. God leaves our rewards up to us, based on believing in Jesus, and what we do.

My point is: when we can’t get justice from man or from human judges, courts, or laws, then it is time to go to the Judge over all the earth- God. Come into the court of heaven by faith, prayer, and persistence. As we cry out to God for justice, He will make things right. God will give us justice speedily and will vindicate us.

Don’t give up. Cry out to God. He will hear your cry and every wrong thing will be corrected. God gives justice for every injustice, and what was crooked will be made straight. Persistent faith and prayer to God gets answers and satisfaction. God’s written Word is God’s law book, which is always brings truth and a right verdict.
