Disgrace Replaced By Grace

Disgrace Replaced By Grace

God warned them of this in the Scriptures when he said, “I am placing a stone in Jerusalem that makes people stumble, a rock that makes them fall. But anyone who trusts in him will never be disgraced.” Romans 9:33 (New Living Translation, NLT)

Through Jesus Christ, we can all have a new beginning, a do-over, a fresh start. We all wish we hadn’t done certain things- or even a lot of things. I’m talking about things that left us feeling disgraced, ashamed, and red-faced. This verse tells us that when we believe on Jesus, we shall not be put to shame.

God gives us grace to erase disgrace. Disgrace displaces us and takes us out of where we belong. Deeper yet, disgrace affects who we are. But, Jesus came to erase shame and disgrace and make us His own new creation.

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. II Corinthians 5:17 (KJV)

God is the Glory and Lifter up of our heads (Psalm 3:3). God makes His face to shine upon us to dispel the shame. He lifts His countenance upon us, turning His face towards in us in love, approval, and acceptance (Numbers 6:22-27). We’re placed with God by His grace, giving us peace from all that once harrassed us and made us feel embarrassed and ashamed. Because we believe in Jesus, we are now free from disgrace of any kind.
