Accept Your Acceptance
To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. Ephesians 1:6 (KJV)
We give God praise and glory for His grace, for what He hath (past tense) done. He already did it at the cross. What has He done? He made us accepted. We accepted our acceptance when we accepted Christ as Savior and Lord. We are accepted in the beloved- in Christ. The New Living Translation says dear Son instead of beloved. Beloved means one who is loved. We are accepted in God’s dear Son; the One who’s loved. This means we are loved too.
And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Matthew 3:17 (KJV) emphasis mine
Accepted refers to being pleased with, approved, welcomed, received, admitted, seen as worthy, recognized as true, viewed favorably..
Because we are in Christ, God accepts us because He accepts Christ. Our good is never good enough for us to be accepted on our own merit. On the other hand, our bad is never bad enough for God to reject us. we are accepted wholly on who Christ is and all He has accomplished. We can’t do enough to get God to accept us or approve of us. Nothing we do can get God to do anything for us because on our own, we aren’t capable of being or doing enough to move Him. However, Jesus and what He did for us is more than enough to meet every need of mankind.
In Christ we are accepted. God has already accepted us. So, we just need to accept our acceptance. The finished works of Christ are enough. Our works will never ever be enough to make us acceptable to God. Since God has accepted Jesus and His finished works, there’s no need to add to it. And nothing can take away from it. Redemption has been purchased by Christ.
So, you and I must know that God loves us, accepts us, approves of us, receives us, and favors us because of Jesus Christ. Isn’t that wonderful?
God is good to us because God is good; not because we are good since our goodness will never be good enough. Our God is so good that He gave us a good Savior to make us good enough when we accept Jesus and what he did for us. Now- since God accepts you, isn’t it time to accept yourself? In Christ, we’re no longer rejected but accepted.
My friend, it is time to reject rejection and accept your acceptance.
