He Won't Let Go

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. Isaiah 43:2 (New International Version, NIV)

We can be assured of the Lord’s protection and His presence regardless of what we encounter. The world today is an uncertain place, full of strife, division, and danger. But, we can be certain of the unfailing love of our God.

This verse speaks of dangerous waters and the swift currents of the river. His hand will hold onto us as we navigate thorugh the rough waters of life. There are times when we think we will go under and drown, but He is always there to keep us safe. No matter how strong the current, He is stronger still. As long as we hold onto Him, we can’t be swept away.

This verse also references walking through the fire. Notice it speaks of walking through it, not staying in it. He will not allow us to be consumed by the flames of hatred, greed, and violence. He will not let the fiery darts of the enemy harm us. Just hold up the shield of faith that He gave you, and you’ll come through it just fine. The fires of hell cannot overcome the blood-bought child of God.

This verse is one that comforts me a lot. We all have those seasons where it feels like we won’t make it. Yet, somehow God always manages to bring us through. Right now is such a time for many people. We are in the midst of a worldwide war between good and evil. The wicked ones who want to control the world are trying with all their might to hold onto power. But God, who has promised to bring us through the floods and the flames, will bring us through this too. Righteousness and justice will prevail, and so will we. Stay in faith and hold onto His hand. He won’t ever let go, and neither should we.
