Choose The Life You Want
I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live: That thou mayest love the Lord thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the Lord sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them. Deuteronomy 30:19-20 (KJV)
We live life by our choices. We make our choices, then our choices make us. Our choices make up the substance of our lives. Choices always have results, or consequences. We choose life or death, blessing or curses. By our choices, we choose to live our lives for God or for ourselves.
God has set before us, meaning He has given us a choice. We must make our choices based on our love for God. Our choices reflect the level of our love for God. As we choose to love God, we choose life. As we choose to love other things above God, we choose death. We live out what we choose. The more we choose correctly, the more we demonstrate our love for God.
We can’t live others’ lives for them. And we must not allow others to try to live our lives for us. People can’t make choices for other adults unless they let them. If we see someone making poor choices, we can warn them, but what they choose to do is on them. And don’t let the bad choices of others ruin the good life God has given you. As we choose rightly by choosing to obey God and to love Him, we’ll have the life God planned for us to have.
We must cleave to God, for He is our life. He is real life, true life, eternal life, and the length of our days. He will satisfy us with a good, long life. It will be a healthy and happy life; one worth living. We’ll live in the land where God places us, for God has a place for each of us.
So, live your life with and for God, and let God live His life through you. If you made bad choices in the past, repent of them and begin to make good choices. Watch God turn things around, giving you life instead of death and blessing instead of curses. Choose you this day whom you will serve. Choose to serve God to have a good outcome now and for generations to come.
