Let God Do His Deep Work in You
Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. II Corinthians 3:17-18 (KJV)
Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ: Philippians 1:6 (KJV)
Deep calleth unto deep at the noise of thy waterspouts: all thy waves and thy billows are gone over me. Psalm 42:7 (KJV)
God does His deepest work in us in the darkest times of our lives, whether in the desert, in a prison, or in the fire. He works in us in hard, difficult, times. We get self-willed, hard, stubborn, selfish, prideful, and so on. God goes to work in us, pulling up roots that have been in us. Things get ingrained in us from past experiences and wrong teaching, as well as our own wrong mindsets, attitudes, and emotions. So, God gets in us and starts digging around in us and searching us with His eyes and His light to see what is in us.
He begins to deal with us, pulling things out that need to be removed. This can be painful and it may hurt as He tries to get us to let go of things that hurt and damage us. He begins to use His Word as a surgeon’s scalpel, cutting things out of us. He does this not to hurt us, but to help us. It may be painful to let go of things we’ve held onto all our lives such as past hurts, bad events, incorrect mindsets, and a whole lot more. The more we surrender to Him, the easier and quicker the process can be. It takes time to be changed and restored, so the more we cooperate with God, the sooner we can be made new.
God uses His Spirit to change us from glory to glory as we are in His manifest presence. It is supernatural change because we’ve tried everything else to no avail. So, God comes on the scene and His Spirit begins to move in us to do His deep and great work. God pours in the oil, the anointing of the Holy Spirit. And He pours in the wine, which is the blood of Jesus (Luke 10:34). He begins to apply the finished works of Christ in us to heal and change us. He makes us more Christlike. The more we receive the anointing and the blood, the more we are healed and changed.
As we go through what we’re going through, we must remember that God sent His Word to heal and deliver us. He is making us who He called us to be:
By His hand, He shapes us.
By His fire, He purifies us.
By His Word, He grows us.
By His Spirit, He matures us.
God does His deep work in us to change and make us better. He loves us too much to leave us a mess. He wants us to be blessed and not a mess. As we surrender to God and allow him to do His deep work in us, we will come out of the process a vessel of honor that is suitable and ready for the Master’s use.
