Stress-Be-Gone!

It’s so nice when you find a product that removes something unwanted and does it well. For example, a spot remover that actually removes spots without damaging the material can be a real game-changer.

I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace. In the world you have tribulation and distress and suffering, but be courageous [be confident, be undaunted, be filled with joy]; I have overcome the world.” [My conquest is accomplished, My victory abiding.] John 16:33 (Amplified Bible, AMP) emphasis mine

This tells us that the Words of Jesus give perfect peace, freeing us from distress. If you think that the word distress may be related to the word stress, you are correct. According to Dictionary.com, stress is a variant of the word distress, and the two words have very similar meanings. According to the same website, stress can be defined as mental, emotional, or physical strain or tension. It defines distress as great pain, anxiety, or sorrow; acute physical or mental suffering.

We have something that can remove dsitress/ stress from our lives. What a product that would be if we could bottle it and sell it! We could call it Stress-Be-Gone. But, it is even better than that. It is available to us all at no cost. And most believers have it readily available in their very own homes. The Words of Jesus are the Words of God, since Jesus is God (John 1:1). So, the Word of God, the Bible, is the very thing that can remove stress.

However, just as a spot remover will not remove spots if it is left in the bottle, our faithful stress remover will not remove stress until it is applied. When your Bible remains on your shelf or side table, the stress remains in your life. When you get into the Word and stay there by meditating on what you’ve read, the Word will find its way into your heart. At that point, you can release it out of your mouth, and it can go to work to eradicate stress and distress.

If you remain in Me and My words remain in you [that is, if we are vitally united and My message lives in your heart], ask whatever you wish and it will be done for you. John 15:7 (Amplified Bible, AMP)

When the Word really gets in our hearts, it can accomplish whatever we need it to, including the removal of stress and anxiety. But that does not come by a surface reading of the Scripture. We have to get in, really study it, and then spend time thinking about and meditating on it throughout the day. However, once it is deposited securely in our hearts, it can make a huge difference in our lives. When your heart is fixed on the Word of God and the truth of that Word is established in you, you can speak it forth and get real results. You’ll be able to say, “Stress be gone!” and it will.
