How We Are to Walk, Stand, and Sit
Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish. Psalm 1:1-6 (KJV)
Walk, stand, and sit. We must know how to walk and who we walk with. We must know who we will stand with or not. We must choose who we sit with.
There is a right and wrong way to do this. We are to walk, stand, and sit in the light. We stand against sin. We can sit occasionally with sinners to win them to Jesus, but we are to walk with the wise to be wise and to do the right thing.
We don’t walk in the counsel of the ungodly because they will lead us in the wrong direction. We walk in godly counsel, going by God’s Word and Spirit.
We don’t stand with sinners, but we stand for God and for what is right. We speak the truth in love to the ungodly to give them the opportunity to accept Christ.
We don’t sit in the seat of the scornful. We are to sit in churches that teach the truth, not those that scorn the teachings of the Bible. Seats often speak of government, reminding us that we elect godly leaders who will promote godly policies.
We sit to delight in God’s Word. We stand firm as a tree that’s been planted by rivers of water, giving us deep roots that produce much fruit. We walk in fruitfulness and prosperity.
The deeper the root, the more the fruit. The deeper our foundation, the higher we can build. Jesus is the deep, solid foundation we build upon. We walk with Jesus in truth. We stand with Jesus for righteousness. We sit with Jesus to know Him.
Truly, we are blessed, and God will continue to bless us as we walk, stand, and sit with Him. Blessed, happy, prosperous, and favored are we!
