Your Life Is a Sacrifice

Your Life Is a Sacrifice

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. Romans 12:1 (KJV)

Present, or offer, your bodies as a living sacrifice. Surrender, or sacrifice, yourself; your thoughts, your will, your body, all you are and have, to God. Live for God. The Bible says this is our reasonable service, our very act of worship.

Worship is to be a lifestyle. Our lives are lived as worship to the Lord. A worshipper is who you are, and worship is what you do.

A living sacrifice is just as it sounds. As we live and are alive, we dedicate all we are and do to Him. Sacrifice is the act of offering. In the Old Testament, the offering was a slain animal, but now, since Christ has died in our place, we are living sacrifices. This is acceptable, or pleasing to God. We are to live in the manner that pleases Him as an act of worship. Our reasonable service is to worship God with our lives. We surrender to God daily.

And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. Romans 12:1 (New Living Translation, NLT)

Your body is God’s temple, the dwelling place of God. Offer it to Him. We give our bodies to God for His service and for His glory. We become a channel, or vessel that God fills and flows through. God then ministers to us and ministers to others through us.

All that we do is an act of worship that we offer up to God to glorify Him. It is worship that pleases Him. Jesus offered His body for us. Surely we can offer our bodies to Him.

Our worship reveals and manifests Jesus so others can be saved, know Him, and worship Him. we are saved, first, from hell. Then, we are saved to worship God, now and forever. We offer up our spirits, souls, and bodies to Jesus now, and we will worship Him forever. We’ll spend eternity loving Jesus and giving ourselves to Him.
