Alone With God

Therefore, behold, I will allure her [Israel] and bring her into the wilderness, and I will speak tenderly and to her heart. There I will give her her vineyards and make the Valley of Achor [troubling] to be for her a door of hope and expectation. And she shall sing there and respond as in the days of her youth and as at the time when she came up out of the land of Egypt. Hosea 2:14-15 (Amplified Bible Classic Edition, AMPC)

God will draw us to Himself, even in the wilderness, which is a place of isolation. He will draw us to be alone with Him. Why? So God can speak tenderly to your heart. The world is a noisy and busy place, so we need time alone to unplug from the demands of life and hear God. God is commanding us to “Come and be with Me, My people.” Only God knows what we need, and only He can give it to us.

But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. Matthew 4:4 (KJV)

God has many things to say to us on a daily basis, to give us our daily bread, which is His Word. we must come to Him to receive His Word, to pick up our manna from Heaven.

When life speaks roughly to us through our circumstances, daily life, people, the enemy, and even our own negative thoughts and emotions, how can we overcome? God will draw us, or as the King James Version says, He will allure us, making Himself more desirable than anything else.

God knows we deal with a lot of things in life. We can be burdened down and overwhelmed. At times, things will try to steal our hope, our confident expectation of good.

God will give us vineyards. This speaks of fruitfulness and provision. He’ll do this even when we are in the Valley of Achor, which means trouble or troubling. The place we may be in may be so full of trouble, hitting our hearts day after day. It will try to try to trouble our hearts, but God knows exactly what we’re facing. He will turn it into a door of hope and expectation, assuring us of coming good. We will sing and be like we were in our youth. God is restoring our youth (Psalm 103:5). He is doing what He did when He brought Israel out of Egypt, the house of bondage.

So, God allures us to be with Him to speak to us and let us know that He is turning what we are going through into a door of hope. When God opens the door, we can walk right out of trouble and bondage into the good things, the hoped-for things, the sure things He has for each of us. And we will return to our youth, singing and responding as we once did before.
