Fully Awake

Jesus answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any man walk in the day, he stumbleth not, because he seeth the light of this world. But if a man walk in the night, he stumbleth, because there is no light in him. These things said he: and after that he saith unto them, Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep. John 11:9-11 (KJV)

These verses refer to both inner and out light and inner and outer darkness. Those who are asleep are spiritually dead, walking in inner darkness, but Jesus is waking people out of their sleep. He’s awakening them to be born-again and become spiritually alive in Him. When people walk in darkness, it is because there is no light in them. They are dead men walking- the walking dead because they are dead to God.

However, when Jesus awakens them, He puts an inner light in them, for God is light. They go from darkness to light. God’s Word brings light. As they have spiritual light in them, they walk in the light of God. They are awakened to God and the things of God. They experience the resurrection from death to life- both spiritually and physically. They move from darkness to light.

When Jesus speaks to them, that which bound them can hold them no more. They become free and walk out of the darkness of death, hell, and the grave, and they become alive as they behold Jesus. When Jesus shows up and speaks Hs Word, He speaks light, life, and love. Then, they go forth in resurrection power and life. Awakened to Jesus, they hear, see, and feel Him. They walk in newness of life.

As we all continue to walk in the Light of Life, Jesus, we are awakened daily to the Lord, His Word, his Spirit, His presence, and His power. Thus, we are awakened to God Himself. We are done with the things of the world that brought death. Now, we are awake to Jesus and we see, hear, and follow Him. We’ve gone from death to life, from darkness to light, and from hatred to love. As we know God more and more, day by day, Jesus awakens us to more of Himself, and we will live blessed lives in Christ- fully awake.
