In Honor of Charlie

Today is September 14, 2025. It’s been a few days since Charlie Kirk was martyred for his faith in Jesus. He lived according to his faith in Jesus and showed other people how that translates into how we should order society and government. He was killed for proclaiming Jesus Christ. Now, He is with the Lord he loved so much. Like many others have stated, his murder struck something deep inside me, and I wanted to wait until I had time to reflect and pray before posting anything about it.

When something like this happens, we are tempted to question God about how the enemy was able to take him out. There are a lot of possible answers to that question, and we’ve posted previous blogs about why bad things sometimes happen to people who are living for Jesus. However, today, my focus is on how we move forward and honor Charlie in the way that pleases the Lord.

I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat is planted in the soil and dies, it remains alone. But its death will produce many new kernels—a plentiful harvest of new lives. John 12:24 (New Living Translation, NLT)

Many have already noted this verse when speaking about Charlie, but I’d like to also use it. Charlie’s death is already bringing many to the Lord. His message has now been amplified in a way it never was during his life. People all over the world who never heard of him are seeing clips of Charlie talking to young people and are hearing Charlie witness for Jesus and promote godly values. Did God intend for Charlie to die so young? No. God wants long life for us (Psalm 91:16). However, God will use this situation to receive glory and kick the devil in the teeth. God will bring good out of this in ways we can’t even imagine.

His death shouldn’t cause us to shrink back in fear. That’s exactly what the devil wants us to do. Instead, we should be bolder than ever, speaking the truth in love at every opportunity. And we don’t attack those whose opinions differ from ours. We can win more people with love than with harsh words. Be bold. Speak the truth of the Gospel and how this earth should be run like heaven. But, we do not ridicule or degrade those who disagree. Just stand firm and do not back down, even in the face of hatred.

Something Charlie understood was that genuine love for Jesus Christ should overflow into every area of life. It is to affect how we perceive the world and the impact we are to make on every part of society- not just the spiritual realm. A life lived for God influences governments, economies, entertainment, education, morality, and so much more. God did not put us here to get saved and then stay in a corner. As Charlie has said, the Bible is a very political book, so if we live by the Word of God, it should carry over into politics and other things. Ours is to be a world-changing faith. Believers who think we should leave others to run the world are one of the reasons this world is such a mess. Christianity is not a spectator sport. When Christians refuse to rule and govern, who is left? The devil’s evil crowd.

Now more than ever, speak out for Jesus. Get involved. Maybe you’re called to run for office. Maybe you’re supposed to direct the next box office hit. Maybe you’re supposed to raise children and instill the godly values in them that will help them change the world even more. Pray and let God lead you to the destiny that He has for you. Then step into it without fear. It’s glorious and it’s bigger than you can imagine. Dream big. Strife for greatness. Proclaim God’s grace to all who will hear. Do it in honor of Charlie. As you do, his harvest will begin to spring up, and soon that single kernel of wheat will abound with an astounding harvest of new lives for the Lord and a world that reflects heaven.
