Jesus Took It All Away- Part 1

Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands; That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world: But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace; And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby: And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh. For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father. Ephesians 2:11-18 (KJV)

Jesus came to take away everything that was against us and everything that was held against us. He took it out of the way. Now nothing can stand against us or be held against us- not sin, separation, or any such thing.

A Discourse of Ephesians 2:11-18

We were Gentiles, without Christ. We did not have relationship with God. We were aliens from the the nation of Israel. We were not part of God’s covenant people. We were strangers to the covenants in the Old Testament. We had no hope, being without God in the world. We were a mess!

But now, in Christ, we’re made right by Jesus’ blood. Christ cut covenant, and now we’re included in the New Covenant. Jesus is our peace, and has broken down the middle wall of separation- the partition that kept us from God and from the people of God.

Jesus fulfilled the Law and made us one. Jews and Gentiles become one when they are born-again. By the cross of Christ, we are all reconciled to God. Jesus preached peace to those who were afar off (Gentiles) and to those who were near (Jews). By Christ, both Jew and Gentile have access to God.

God is our Father. We are one family, and now we all belong to Him. We’re home at last.
