Someone Is Praying

Someone Is Praying

I thank God, whom I serve from my forefathers with pure conscience, that without ceasing I have remembrance of thee in my prayers night and day; II Timothy 1:3 (KJV)

For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries. I Corinthians 14:2 (KJV)

There are many times in life when we are tempted to feel alone. Maybe you live by yourself. Maybe you don’t have many friends or aquaintances. Maybe you are what people call a shut-in; unable to get out of your house. Maybe you are around people, but don’t know anyone with a serious Christian faith. Perhaps you wonder who will come alongside you and hold you up in prayer in those times when you need it.

Do not be concerned that no one will intercede for you. God always has people praying. He has people lifting up others in prayer. It may be someone in your own community or on the other side of the world, but God moves on people to pray and intercede- and someone is praying for you.

Sometimes God will supernaturally drop a name or a face in someone’s heart so they will pray for them. I have had numerous occasions in which people I knew many, many years ago popped into my thoughts for no apparent reason. At such times, I know God is moving me to pray for them. He also will tell His children to pray for people in a certain city, area or region. He may also tell them to pray for people in certain situations, such as those fighting a certain illness, those battling depression or anxiety, or those being persecuted for their faith. God moves on His people to pray at various times and in various ways.

Tongues is also very effective in intercession because it allows the beliver to pray for people they do not know and those in stuations they are totally unaware of. Tongues is a supernatural prayer language of the Holy Spirit, so we are praying mysteries and praying the perfect will of God. When I pray in tongues, I might be praying for someone in Indonesia, someone in France, someone in Russia, or someone in my own neighborhood. I might be praying for a person’s healing, for someone to have peace, for someone’s bills to be paid. The beauty of praying in tongues is that we can cover people in prayer that we will never know in this life. I am convinced that through tongues, Holy Spirit can ensure that all who need prayer will receive it.

Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. Romans 8:34 (New International Version, NIV)

If you aren’t convinced that God has people on earth praying for you, know that Jesus Christ Himself intecedes for you.

So, you may not be aware that anyone is praying for you, but because God is all-knowing and present everywhere, He has someone lifting you up in intercession. Take comfort that God has your need on someone’s heart and on their lips in prayer.

Now, the real question is: Are you doing your part to pray for others?
