Seek, Surrender, Serve
Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. Romans 12:1-2 (New International Version, NIV)
As we seek God, we will find God and know God. This leads us to surrender our all to God. Then God will tell us how to serve Him.
When we don’t seek God, obviously, we won’t find Him and we won’t know Him. As a result, we will not trust and surrender ourselves to God, meaning we will hold back from serving Him.
Our seeking of God must be whole-hearted. Then, we will encounter and experience God personally. We’ll hear Him speak, telling us to surrender all. As we obey, we can give it all up to the Lord, holding nothing back. We won’t be hindered from serving Him.
Surrender is a scary concept for some. We need to seek the humble position, the lower one. The lower we go, the higher Christ can go and the more He’ll be seen in us and our lives. When we humble ourselves and surrender our will to God, it is true worship to Him. As we seek His ways over the ways of the world, we will be in alignment with His will for us.
When we seek God, we’ll find Him. We then can surrender all to be obedient followers who serve wherever God leads. Its not by might, not by power, but by His Word and Spirit that this can take place. Seek Him. Surrender to Him. Serve Him.
