7:11 Windows of Heaven
In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened. Genesis 7:11 (KJV) emphasis mine
In this verse from Genesis are some interesting numbers. In Noah’s age we see the number six. Six in the Bible represents man. It mentions the second month. Two speaks of testimony or witness, as well as division and separation. And it references the seventeenth day. This points to spiritual order and our walk with God.
Genesis 7:11 tells us that the windows of heaven opened up. The windows of heaven are also mentioned in Malachi in relation to the pouring out of blessings from heaven on his people. In Genesis it speaks of the pouring out of judgment on the wicked. Just as in the days of Noah, God is breaking up the old to make room for the new. There was an abundance of rain and water. For Noah and his family, it meant deliverance. For the others, it meant destruction. What the windows of heaven bring to your life depends on which side you’re on: the Lord’s or the devil’s.
As I mentioned, six is the number for man. God is visiting the earth, dealing with man to get right with Him. Seventeen shows He is bringing order out of chaos. Two tells us that He is giving us a witness of what He’s doing now in our time- judging the wicked and preserving the righteous. There is a division and separation between those on the Lord’s side and those who are not.
God is pouring out the latter rain of His Spirit upon all flesh in the end of days so whoever will saved can be. As we call upon the Lord, God will come and save us from our enemies, pouring out His blessing upon us. In the process, He is healing and restoring our land. We’ll enter a new and better world. As we rise up on the waters of judgment, safe in Christ, He is our ark of salvation, keeping us from the deluge of judgment. When the judgment passes, we’ll enjoy a new order from God that will last until the rapture takes place.
