He Loves Me, He Loves Me, He Loves Me

He Loves Me, He Loves Me, He Loves Me

Have you ever picked a flower and plucked its petals off one-by-one saying “He loves me,” then “He loves me not” alternating between the two until the flower’s petals are gone? I’m not sure where this came from, but it is a supersititious kind of activity that is supposed to determine if someone loves you by what is said with the plucking of the last petal- showing that either they love you or they don’t.

The Lord has appeared of old to me, saying: “Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you. Jeremiah 31:3 (NKJV)

The love of our God is an everlasting love. He is not fickle and He won’t take His love away from us. He is steadfast and immovable. He has said He would never leave or forsake us, and He means it.

For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” Hebrews 13:5 (NKJV)

We don’t have to worry whether God loves us. He made us and He loves His creation. There is nothing we can do that would make Him stop loving us. It is true that failure to accept Jesus as the sacrifice for our sins can separate us from God, but He still has a love for each and every one of us- even if He has to honor a person’s decision to be separated from Him forever. He loves us all too much to force us to do something against our will. His goal is to woo us all and draw us to Himself so we will choose His love and goodness over the alternative.

God loves you and He will always love you. You are not alone. You are not abandoned, even if people have left you. We can rely on the everlasting love of the Lord. His love is all you need to be healed and whole- spirit, soul, and body. He Himself is love (I John 4:8), and His nature is love. This means you can be assured that His love will always be available.

Our heavenly Father wants nothing more than to wrap His arms around us and saturate us with His love. The reason we don’t feel that love from Him is because our hearts have become hardened from the effects of living in this world. To receive His love, we need to come away from the world, immerse ourselves in the Word of God, and seek His presence by praising and worshipping Him. When we seek Him with sincerity, we’ll always find Him. He is not hiding, but wants to be found by us.

Intimacy with God is not an unattainable thing. God is as close as we allow Him to be. Get away with Him. Spend time with Him in intimacy. When you do, you’ll find that instead of “He loves me, He loves me not,” you’ll say “He loves me, He loves me, He loves me….”
