Crowned By The King

Crowned By The King

Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; Psalm 103:4 (KJV)

God has crowned us. A crown has great significance as noted in many places in Proverbs. It represents:

  • Glory (Proverbs 4:9)

  • The blessing of having a virtuous wife (Proverbs 12:4)

  • Gray hair/wisdom/long life (Proverbs 16:31)

  • The blessing of grandchildren (Proverbs 17:6)

  • Wisdom that brings wealth (Proverbs 14:24)

  • Grace (Proverbs 4:9)

  • Knowledge (Proverbs 14:18)

For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour. Psalm 8:5 (KJV)

In the New Testament, it speaks of believers bein crowned. In Revelation 1:6 we are crowned as kings, and Romans 5:17 says we are to reign now in this life as kings.

The New Testament mentions crowns in a number of places.

  • An Incorruptible Crown (I Corinthians 9:24-25), which speaks of finishing the race.

  • A Crown of Rejoicing (I Thessalonians 2:19-20), which is a soul winner’s crown.

  • A Crown of Life (James 1:12), which speaks of overcoming.

  • A Crown of Glory (I Peter 5:1-4), which is a crown for pastors/shepherds.

  • A Crown of Righteousness (II Timothy 4:8), which is for those who follow Christ until the end, living right and looking for Christ’s appearing.

God anointed kings in the Old Testament BEFORE they wore a crown. God has anointed us and then He crowned us, expecting us to be and do what He has called us to in every area of life. We’re anointed to win. We’re crowned to rule. The anointing is God’s approval. The crowning is God using us. Wear your anointing well. Wear your crown well. We are clothed in the anointing, God’s ability. We are crowned with God’s authority.

God has crowned us with glory and honor and has given us a place and position in Christ. In Christ, we sit in heavenly places beside the King of kings. God has crowned us and given us all we need to win, and win big, in this life.

Of course, all the crowns we receive will be cast at the feet of Jesus in worship like the 24 elders do in Revelation 4:10-11. That is the real purpose in receiving crowns; to present them to our King.

His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. Revelation 19:12 (KJV)

Jesus Christ wears many crowns showing His royalty and supremacy. We are crowned as kings, but He is the King of kings. He is crowned with many crowns and rules over us kings as our King. Hallelujah!
